Is your device compatible?
It comes down to the model rather than the manufacturer. A Samsung from 2014 and one from 2020 run different software and offer different app stores. The table shows the cut-off for each family and your options if your set is older than that.
| Device type | Supported | Limits and workarounds |
|---|---|---|
| Samsung Smart TV | Tizen sets; our recommended player requires a 2022 or newer model | Earlier Samsung TVs use Orsay, whose app store offers almost nothing useful. Plugging a streaming stick into an HDMI port fixes this fully and costs far less than replacing the TV. |
| LG Smart TV | Sets on webOS 3.0 or newer, which covers most models from about 2016 | Older LG TVs cannot install any player. The fix is the one for Samsung: plug in a stick or a box and use the TV purely as the display. |
| Amazon Fire TV | Fire TV Stick, Stick 4K, Stick 4K Max, Fire TV Cube, and TVs with Fire TV built in | The first-generation stick can open a 4K stream but has trouble keeping up with it. Switch to the HD version of the channel and playback steadies straight away. |
| Android TV & Google TV | Nvidia Shield, Chromecast with Google TV, Xiaomi Mi Box, TVs with Android TV built in, and most Android TV boxes | If a box lacks Google Play certification, the store may not list the app for it at all. The box is the cause, not the app. Send us the model and we will suggest a different way to install it. |
| Android phone & tablet | Current Android phones and tablets, installed from the Play Store | Players built around a remote can be awkward to use by touch. Where a phone really helps is typing in the server address, a painful job with a d-pad. |
| iPhone, iPad & Apple TV | Current iOS and iPadOS through the App Store; on Apple TV, use AirPlay or install a player on the box | Some App Store apps carry names that are nearly identical. Before installing, check who the developer is rather than trusting the title. |
| Windows & macOS | Any computer able to run VLC or a desktop IPTV player | We do not offer a web player, and VLC has no programme guide. Use VLC on a computer to check quickly that a stream plays; for everyday TV viewing it is the wrong tool. |
Whatever the row, two rules apply. You may add your login to as many of your own devices as you want, yet only one of them can stream at once. Your internet line also counts for more than the hardware: plan on roughly 15 Mbps for Full HD and about 25 Mbps for 4K, tested on the device you watch on.
